Beat Lease Info
Everything you need to know before you lease a CRFT beat, in plain English. The full beat lease contract is attached to your BeatStars purchase at checkout. This page just explains the beat leasing process in normal words.
Here's how my BeatStars leasing tiers break down:
| Lease Type | Price | You get | Streams |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $25 | Untagged MP3 | 100,000 |
| Premium | $50 | Untagged WAV + MP3 | 250,000 |
| Deluxe | $100 | WAV + all stems | 1,000,000 |
| Exclusive | Let's talk | The beat is fully yours and it comes off the store. | Unlimited |
Which one do I need?
Testing an idea, or putting out a loosie? Basic.
Actually releasing the song with distribution, streaming, and/or a video?
Premium. This is the one most people need.
Working with a mix engineer, or you want to rearrange the beat, mute a
layer, or change the drop? Deluxe. The stems are what make that possible.
Want to be the only artist who ever has this beat? Exclusive. Email me at gdmxmusic@gmail.com.
Publishing — the part nobody explains
I keep a 50% writer and publisher's share on any song made with one of my beats.
You keep the other 50%. This is standard for producers, and it's how I'm
able to price beat leases this low up front.
In plain terms:
Your recording is yours. The master, your streaming revenue from it, your
distribution — none of that changes. I have no claim on it.
The song's publishing splits 50/50. That's the money the composition earns
separately from the recording — performance royalties, sync fees, that side
of things.
When you register the song, use these splits:
Writer: Christopher Craft ASCAP IPI: 406095083 25%
Publisher: GDMX Music ASCAP IPI: 767941589 25%
This applies to Basic, Premium and Deluxe. Exclusive terms, publishing
included, are negotiated per deal.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put this on Spotify and Apple Music?
Yes, on any tier. Basic covers you to 100,000 streams, Premium to 250,000,
Deluxe to a million. Most songs never come near those numbers — and if
yours does, see the next answer.
What happens when I pass the stream limit?
You upgrade to the next lease level/type and pay only the difference. You don't
start over, and nothing gets taken down while we sort it out. If a song
is doing well, that's good news for both of us.
Can I monetize the video?
Premium and Deluxe, yes. Basic is for non-monetized use.
Do I have to credit you?
Yes — (Produced by CRFT) in the title or description and credits. It's the cheapest part of the deal and it matters to me.
Is the producer tag on the final file?
All leased beats are untagged. Let me know if you want my tag in the song.
Can more than one artist buy the same beat?
On the lease tiers, yes — that's what keeps them affordable. If you want
it to be yours alone, that's what Exclusive is for.
Can I upgrade later?
Any time. Pay the difference, keep the song active.
Do you take custom work?
Yes. Email me — gdmxmusic@gmail.com — with a reference track and a deadline.
What I don't work on
A few things I turn down, so nobody wastes their time: I don't take on
vulgar records or anything with occult leanings. Faith-based or not is
entirely up to you — I work with plenty of artists who aren't making
Christian music. It's about what's in the song and the meaning behind it.
If that's not your vibe, no hard feelings. If it is, we'll make some good music together!
